What people are saying:

'I was thrilled yesterday when I received one of my travel agent trade magazines with a big headline and article about "Mexico's newest HOT SPOT" the Riviera Nayarit! I love telling people now that I own a house there! It was delightful dealing with everyone at Livtopia....you couldn't be more professional and helpful!"

Let's get started

Taxco, Mexico

Taxco, a small city of 90,000 people, is world-renowned as a silver-working center with colonial architecture that is nearly unmatched over the Mexican landscape for sheer beauty. The Mexican government declared the city a protected area of national heritage and so building in Taxco is strictly controlled so as to conform to the traditional styles. A mere 3 hours south and west from Mexico City, at 5,000 feet, it is a high altitude location, so heart and asthma patients will want to use caution before visiting, but the altitude mixed with the clear Mexican sun provides a clarity here that is beyond charming and moves towards the positively enlightening.

Foreign residents do not make up a sizable percentage of the city’s population though foreign visitors are a constant and welcome presence. Like many mining towns, Taxco is mountainous and organic, with cobblestone streets and crooked alleyways hardly to be believed. Every visitor seems to imagine staying forever, and the possibility seems ever more at hand.

Because Taxco is a heavily touristed town with strict building-code regulations, prices can be somewhat higher. Most constructions are colonial-style, especially nearer the town center. Small villas still in the city proper, with two to three bedrooms, can run from US$180,000-$500,000 but can also run to well over US$1,000,000 depending on amenities. Nearer the city center, small but breathtaking colonial homes go for US$400,000-$800,000. On the outskirts of town, there are still terrific bargains starting at as little as US$65,000 and ranging upwards to $350,000.
