What people are saying:

'I was thrilled yesterday when I received one of my travel agent trade magazines with a big headline and article about "Mexico's newest HOT SPOT" the Riviera Nayarit! I love telling people now that I own a house there! It was delightful dealing with everyone at Livtopia....you couldn't be more professional and helpful!"

Let's get started

San Carlos, Mexico

San Carlos is a small town of about 5000-7000 people, on the Pacific coast of the state of Sonora, opposite Baja California. In common with much of the northwest of Mexico, San Carlos was not developed by colonial Spain. San Carlos was in fact not really developed at all until the 1960s, and since then has made the most of its modernity. The vision for the development of the town has been very well-directed, and two marinas and several resorts and camping areas, not to mention the mountains, lend a picturesque atmosphere to the town. San Carlos is part of the Escalera Nautica or Nautical Stairway project, that has developed marinas throughout the Gulf of California and the Sea of Cortes. These infrastructural improvements have seriously advanced the overall economy of the region in recent years.

San Carlos remains largely undiscovered, but some oceanfront condos and homes have been built in recent years. Two bedroom condos on the ocean start at around US$133,000. Two-bedroom homes with an ocean view can be had for US$180,000 and older three- to four-bedroom villas are much more reasonable, running between US$185,000 and $250,000. Large, million dollar luxury villas are available but San Carlos is most precious for offering interesting and affordable options that are nearly certain to retain value.
